Sanford Meisner taught many of the greatest actors of the last century. His technique is never emotionally invasive or critically destructive, but simple, direct, incredibly interesting and fun to discover. This class will teach that technique including reading a play as an actor, creating a character, and the power of listening.
Alix Korey is a veteran of ten Broadway shows, the last being the recent revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF as Yenta the matchmaker. Others include co-starring roles in ALL SHOOK UP, CHICAGO, Neil Simon’s 45 SECONDS FROM BROADWAY, TRIUMPH OF LOVE, AIN’T BROADWAY GRAND and PIRATES OF PENZANCE. For Off-Broadway appearances she received two Drama Desk and an Outer Critics Circle nomination and a Dramaleague award. She has numerous film and prime time TV credits and has released two award-winning solo CDs. She taught at NYU in the Tisch School’s Cap21 program, and in California, at the Musical Theatre University Arts Program. Alix is one of the founders of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, and recently released a live concert album benefitting that organization. Locally she has performed in five ONE NIGHT ONLY evenings at the McCallum, and has performed her solo show at Cabaret 88’s at the Annenberg.
