The content of this course will be based on scene and character analysis. Students will explore the tools of acting and the importance of a partner. This is an easy and fun way to grow in the art of acting. This course helps actors make the best choices in order to develop the strongest characters. There will be short scenes studied and minimal memorization.
The course will conclude with an in-house presentation of the material that the class worked on.
Requirement: Students must either have some previous acting experience or have taken a Beginning Acting class.
Jim Spalding graduated from Humboldt State University in 1978 with a masters of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Arts. He has taught Theatre Arts in Universities in California, Washington, Texas and New Zealand. While in New Zealand he was co-founder of Les Theatre des Iles, a French speaking theatre company that toured New Hebrides, New Caledonia and Tahiti. After 13 years, he retired from the Directorship of the California State University Summer Arts program. This was and is the best multi disciplinary arts program in California.
Class meets Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:30 pm for 6 weeks.
