For Actors, Singers, Dancers, Public speakers – in fact, anyone can benefit from this method!
The Tadashi Suzuki Method is a rigorous approach to exercising the performer’s body-mind, using fixed positions and deceptively simple locomotive movements.
It has been taught around the world – as part of a core daily program at American StageWest Company, The Juilliard School, New York Columbia University, among many others.
The performers are working on themselves rather than a character, and can create their fictional context for the movements if desired.
Developed by Tadashi Suzuki, a Japanese director, writer, philosopher, and founder/ director of the Suzuki Company of Toga (SCOT), this highly effective performance technique is designed to train actors, singers, dancers and non-actors who want to improve their public speaking skills, to access the core of their body in order to build discipline, strength, and focus. Suzuki’s idea is that the voice is also a form of gesture. Suzuki teaches that acting “begins and ends with the feet”; numerous exercises include controlled (and repetitive) forms of stomping and squatting that create a connected center and bring the body to the brink of exhaustion.
The Tadashi Suzuki classes run for 14 weeks and are offered both in morning and evening sessions. All ages and fitness levels welcome.
Instructing the class is a professional actor, singer, dancer Massimo Dobrovic. Trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Mr. Dobrovic has appeared internationally in numerous plays, films and on television.
