“How do dramatic stories work? And how can this knowledge help us deal with crisis and change in real life?”
Andy Harmon, who leads the CVRep Writers Group and teaches Acting and Improv at the Conservatory will share the key ideas from his new book, Change Journey: Voices of the Creative Quest, signing books after the event. Drawing on his 45 years as a director and playwright and 25 years as a leadership coach he’ll engage his audience in a dialogue about the real life drama of creativity; the archetypal conflicts and crises all of us face when we set out to make a difference in the world – and the inner resources we need to draw on to succeed.
Tickets are $15, for the benefit of The CVRep Studio Actors Conservatory
Here’s what previous audiences have said about Andy’s ‘Change Journey’ Presentations:
“Every person in the room walked away richer for the experience. Harmon’s ability to bring the entire room into the discussion and personalize it for everyone – even in a room with over 100 people – helped us break down our barriers, leave our inhibitions behind, and open ourselves up to an experience that makes us better writers and better people”– Kendra Pecci, Alaska Writers Guild.
“Thank you so much for making it a Super Sunday at the Palm Springs Writers Guild. Judging by the audience reaction and interaction, no one was in a rush to get home and see the Super Bowl. You certainly scored a touchdown with us! Thanks again…” – Chery McFadden, Palm Springs Writers Guild
And about his book:
“Posing innocently as a helpful-hints book for writers, it is really a keep-by-your-side companion for anyone who wants to be a leader, a performer, a speaker – indeed, anyone who wants to express ideas, create change, and/or lead others to do so, by communication or by example.” – Shirley Kressel, Journalist, Boston
“Andy Harmon is one of those rare and precious people who can change the way you see the world and your journey through it. Work with the man if you can, but failing that, read his book. It’s not him, but it’s close.” – Lee Simpson, Co-Artistic Direct, Improbable Theatre, London.
“I know Andy Harmon’s work through his acclaimed training programs at Price Waterhouse and McKinsey & Company in London. Using the principles and practices of theatre, he and his wife Anita developed courses that enabled our people to become far more effective in difficult, real life situations. His new book is an exciting extension of that work: applying the principles of drama to the problems of innovation and corporate change more broadly… In ‘Change Journey’ Harmon reveals a fascinating ‘dramatic’ framework for understanding the obstacles to change and a practical way of helping people mobilize their inner resources to deal with the challenge. A fascinating and insightful read.” – Colin Price, Chairman of Co Company, London and Visiting Fellow, Oxford University.
