CVRep’s production of NATIVE GARDENS by Karen Zacarias will run from April 22-May 10, 2020, with rehearsals starting the week of March 30.

Seeking the following roles:
TANIA DEL VALLE: Female, 28-35 years old. Latina, from New Mexico. Some Spanish speaking required. She is a working class, PHD student. She is very likable, positive, and passionate. She has a passion for anthropology and the environment and is preparing for her first child with her husband Pablo. She is determined to move through this world with kindness and has a deep respect for her elders. She is an avid gardener.
PABLO DEL VALLE: Male, 28-35 years old. Latino, from Chile. Smart, likable, ambitious, savvy young attorney. He comes from an affluent family and attended boarding school in the States. Spanish is his first language but he has no accent. He is hungry and determined to move up in the world. Minimal Spanish required.
VIRGINIA BUTLEY: Female, 60-70 years old. Polish American. She is smart and likable. Assertive and direct. She is a no-nonsense engineer. Affluent and socially savvy.
FRANK BUTLEY: 60-70 years old. New England native. He is as excitable as he is likable. He is a deeply caring, detail oriented federal employee and an avid gardener. He is retired and has turned his focus to his garden. He gets easily stressed out and worked up and Virginia, his wife, calms him down. As does his garden. He is quite vulnerable but also a loving and giving person.

These are non-speaking roles that make up the Surveyor, Landscapers, and the Building Examiner. The workers should be Latinx and exude unique personalities during the 9 transitions throughout the play. They are the witnesses and the energetic transformers of both play and the situation.
