Life is definitely a Cabaret. So come, create and build your own cabaret act!
Esteemed cabaret artist, Andrea Marcovicci, defines cabaret as “an intensely personal evening of song and stories, delivered in a simple, honest way in an intimate space that shatters the fourth wall. The audience participates in a direct, emotional conversation with the artist and leaves feeling contacted and personally touched.”
The finest cabaret artists are the greatest storytellers. They weave together story and song, and connect to the lyrics in a way that can mesmerize and charm an audience.
This 8-week workshop is for professional and non-professional entertainers interested in the art form of cabaret. Good for young adult singers who have a dream of showcasing their talents through acting and song; or the older, seasoned “pro,” who wants to get back on the boards. It is also for any singer who has always had the dream of being on stage in one’s own act, but work, family and life took them on a different journey. This workshop is good for you — the enthusiastic performer, aged 18-80. Tell a famous biographical story. Or create a tribute to your favorite singer, writer or composer. Or shift into high gear and create a cabaret show that is deeply personal about your life.
Performers will focus on stage presence, song selection and interpretation, dialogue and crafting a cabaret show. Participation in class culminates in a group cabaret show, onstage in front of a live audience.
Come learn from a seasoned pro who has worked with and studied with the best in the cabaret world.
