PUSH is a compelling and timely play that explores the topics of bullying, harassment, sexual preference equality, and ultimately finding hope.The play tells the story of sixteen-year-old Eve, as she finds herself on a deserted subway station, where her 18-year-old brother Billy chose to end his life, and where she’ll soon struggle to find the reasons NOT to follow him. ONE BULLIED CHILD IS ONE TOO MANY!
PUSH poses the question What would it take push someone over the edge? As Eve recalls the events that led to Billy’s tragic decision, she attempts to make sense of it and find meaning in her own life as she sits on the same subway ledge.
The play will run for two weeks, September 20th through the 30th, with two public performances on Saturday, September 24th at 2pm and 7pm. All children under 17 admitted to the public performance for FREE. Tickets are currently available by phone 760-296-2966.
At the end of each performance, director Jeanette Knight will conduct a Q & A with the cast where the audience can ask questions about what they experienced and discuss what they did and did not understand. This opens up a dialogue to continuing the conversation long after leaving the theatre.
This will mark CVRep’s eighth Youth Outreach Production. To date, more than 10,000 young people have been bussed, free of charge, to see age appropriate theater productions. Culturally relevant and topically sensitive works are intentionally selected.
