Audition Notice for Summer Staged Readings, June 10 & 11, 2016
CVRep is holding auditions for its Summer Staged Readings to be held July 9 & 10, with rehearsals beginning July 1.
Director, Jim Spalding, will be casting several male and female non-equity actors for his staged reading presentation of three short one act plays – The Duck Variations by David Mamet, Variations on the Death of Trotsky by David Ives and Sure Thing by David Ives. All three plays are light comedies and have a related theme: “People talking to each other without really listening or caring about what the other person says!”
The Duck Variations by David Mamet
Two male characters both in their 60’s to 70’s. The play takes place on a park bench where the men talk about life, themselves and ducks.
Variations on the Death of Trotsky by David Ives
Three actors are needed, two males and one female. TROTSKY is a great revolutionary in full flourish around 60. MRS. TROTSKY is grandmotherly and sweet also in her 60’s. RAMON, young and handsome, Hispanic is in his 20’s and is employed by the Trotskys. The play takes place in their study.
Sure Thing by David Ives
Two actors needed, one male and one female, both in their late twenties to early thirties, BILL and BETTY. They are sitting at a cafe table just meeting for the first time.
Auditions will be held on June 10 at 7:00 pm and June 11 at 1:00 pm at CVRep located at The Atrium: 69-930 Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage.
