This fun, friendly and supportive class in the study of theater performance, revisits key basics: objectives, listening, relaxation, while gaining further tools to openly and honestly listen and react, creating precise, focused, relaxed and truthful relationships on stage. Dig deep into texts, create vibrant characters, and develop powerful in-the-moment onstage relationships. The class is designed for full group participation as well as specific one-on-one work. Through scene work, explore techniques that theater professionals use throughout their careers and honor the “acting bug” in you, enroll*Class culminates with a showcase for family and friends in the CVRep’s Black Box theater. JOY OF SINGING with TERI RALSTON (Sept. 4 – Oct. 30)

This is the perfect class to find the power in your voice. Instructions in vocal technique will help you expand your range, make meaningful acting choices, and become confident vocal storytellers. Celebrated actress Teri Ralston whose association with Stephen Sondheim shares her many years of experience performing on Broadway and in Cabaret around the world, providing students with a unique insight into the art and joy of singing. This class includes renowned accompanist and arranger Christopher Marlowe on the piano.

IMPROV ESSENTIALS with MELANIE BLUE (Sept. 12 -Oct. 24)
6 weeks, Thursday’s 6:30 – 8:30 pm *No class October 17

In an encouraging atmosphere, we will practice the skills necessary for successful improvisation: active listening, agreement, relationship and responding honestly in the moment, Through a series of games, exercises, scenes, and monologues we will explore the components which make long form improv fun to do and also fun to watch. Most importantly we will play in safe environment that supports our growth and expansion as both performers and human beings. This class is open to everyone: newcomers and experts alike.
