COACHELLA VALLEY REPERTORY

2025-2026 SEASON

DEAR EVAN HANSEN │ Regional Premier

“One of the most remarkable shows in musical theater history.” – The Washington Post

CVRep begins its 2025-2026 Season presenting the Regional Premiere of DEAR EVAN HANSEN, winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, and an Olivier Award for Best Musical. DEAR EVAN HANSEN is a deeply personal and tremendously moving story about a socially anxious high school senior who tries to fabricates a friendship with a deceaased classmate in order to creeate a world for himself in which he ‘is someone’ and counts for somethng. As he becomes entangled in his web of lies, Hansen’s feelings of isolation grow worse. He eventually faces the consequences of his actions and lies.  This brilliant contemporary musical will be experienced in a new and intimate way at CVRep.

ONE MAN TWO GUVNORS │ CVRep Premiere

Only a Brit would have the cheek to reimagine Carlo Goldoni’s 1743 classic Italian comedy The Servant of Two Masters. And succeed so brilliantly as Richard Bean did with his ONE MAN TWO GUVNORS. The Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics prize-winning play includes songs and music by Grant Olding. Comedy and farce are high on the agenda, along with sex, food and money. ONE MAN TWO GUVNORS follows Francis Henshall, recently sacked from his skiffle band. He becomes a minder to two people: the gangster, Roscoe Crabbe (who is actually Rachel, Roscoe’s twin sister in disguise since Roscoe was murdered by Stanley Stubbers) – and personal assistant to Stanley himself, who is Francis’s sister’s boyfriend. And that’s barely the half of this thoroughly funny and delightfully improbable romp that does, assuredly have a happy ending. ONE MAN TWO GUVNORS is complicated and convoluted – a genuine wild and crazy ride that will be remembered often with smiles and chuckles.

GUYS AND DOLLS │

“In all departments, Guys and Dolls is a perfect musical comedy” – John Chapman, New York Daily News

GUYS AND DOLLS ran for 1,200 performances when it opened on Broadway in 1950. Considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, the show has won a bevy of awards, including Tony Awards, Drama Desks and Oliviers. But it will be an entirely new experience at CVRep as you enter the den of thieves and Prohibition.  Gambling will be what you do when you enter Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City; the CVRep production of Guys and Dolls  will show you just how tough you had to be to get by as night club dancer, illegal craps game organizer, high roller and missionary.  This will be a version of this oddball romantic comedy like you have never seen it before. Be part of the action as 1. Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck and 2, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they’ve been engaged for 14 years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the strait-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, instead.  But seeing GUYS AND DOLLS is no gamble for audiences, it’s an award-winning Broadway classic that’s always a big winner.

ERNEST SHACKELTON LOVES ME │

“… this is a love story that will bring hope to all.”  – Alan Bresloff, Around The Town Chicago

For those who loved CVRep’s production of The 39 Steps, this is a must-see! This stylish, critically acclaimed new musical comedy with a tongue-in-cheek script by Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro (Nice Work If You Can Get It – another CVRep hit!)) takes the CVRep stage for a Coachella Valley Premiere. In this wildly inventive and romantic adventure, a sleep-deprived single mom who makes her living as a video game music composer is contacted across space and time by the famous early 20th century polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton via a crossed connection on her cell phone while he is stranded on an iceberg in the Antarctic. Inspired by her music, he shares his epic journey with her and, together, they overcome the odds in a timeless, and very funny, musical romance for the ages. This show will transport you on the journey of a lifetime.
